TADWORTH TEN 2010
The Tadworth Ten 2010 was held on Sunday 3rd January at 10.30am, on a cold and frosty morning.
The race was convincingly won by James Baker of Chichester Runners in 55:13. The ladies winner was Clare Elms of Dulwich Runners in 1:03:15.
A Message from the Race Director
It was great to see a fantastic turnout this year to make it another memorable race. Only hours earlier the organizing team were on the verge of calling the race off due to the frozen conditions and a forecast for a light covering of snow. The temperature rose, the snow never appeared and a few heroic club stalwarts worked through the weekend to grit the worst affected areas. The winter sunshine in fact encouraged 200 runners to enter on the day!
Congratulations to James Baker on his victory and to Clare Elms who just missed out on a new female course record by 8 seconds!
Unfortunately there were two minor injuries during the race. I wish those concerned a speedy recovery and hope to see them again next year.
My thanks to our sponsors Run To Live for their generous support and to David and Jenny at Run France for once again providing two fantastic holiday prizes in the South of France. The winners of these prizes have been chosen and will be notified soon.
Finally I’d like to thank the Downs Conservators, St John Ambulance, SportSystems and Sweatshop for their kind assistance with the race and most of all the marshals and helpers who endured freezing conditions to encourage you all around the course.
I hope you all achieved your goals and I look forward to seeing you in 2011.
